Ugly Sweater Party

We hosted the 1st ever Ugly Sweater Party at our house Saturday night.  It must be the popular party theme the last few years because I went to 5 Goodwills throughout the last 3 weeks trying to look for an ugly sweater with no luck.  People are professional ugly sweater buyers and sell them on ebay for ridiculous prices.  I caved in an bought Jared's too short ugly stripe sweater for $10 on ebay.  With 2 hours before party time I found my ugly sweater vest at the local Lutheran Thrift Shop on 50% off day for a whopping $1.50.  I was pretty pleased with my purchase.  Little did I know how not so ugly our sweaters were compared with what came through the front door........
We set up the bounce house for the kids and the menu included Nacho's and Chili!

We had a white elephant gift exchange with the kids....did I mention there were 20 kids under the age of 6!  It made for some good entertainment when I tried to get each kid to pass their $1 toy gift to the right and left throughout the story.  After they opened their toys we played a fun paper plate game with the adults.

The Hills are our neighbors down the street. Laura won the prize for the girls....she found her ugly sweater in her Mom's closet! Nate looked pretty good too with his Christmas golf shirt and trash stache!
Robbie & Shelly are our next door neighbors.  They are expecting their first baby boy in March
Guy & Stacy had some pretty ugly sweaters themselves.  Stacy was runner up for the girls.

Jared & Jessica had the entire look going....loved Jess' bright red lipstick and homemade ugly ornament sweater!
Cory & Kelli were troopers and enjoyed the party without 3 of their 4 kids.  We are so sad they are moving to China for work in a few weeks...especially since they just moved in!
Justin & Robin sported some pretty ugly sweaters from his Moms closet!  They are expecting their 2nd baby in a few months!!!
Matt & Brooke took the cake for the night!  Can you guess who won the Ugliest Sweater contest?  Mint green & Peach....uugggh!  Brooke even added puff paints to a Panda sweater to make it more Christmasy!
We missed pictures of The Lunds and Hess's. Bryan and Paula couldn't miss the fun and brought their 11 day old baby near the end of the party too!  We had such a fun time with our new neighbors and dear friends from the single ward days!  We might have to make this a new Phelps Christmas tradition!!!!
